Plot Summary
Jassi (Ajay Devgn), a carefree and fun-loving man living in London, returns to India to claim a piece of ancestral land. But unknown to him, he steps into the heart of a long-standing family feud. His arrival sets off a chain of events when he ends up in the house of the Sandhus — the very family that wants to kill him — led by the revenge-driven Balwinder Singh Sandhu (Sanjay Dutt).
However, because of their tradition of not killing guests inside the house, Jassi is safe — but only as long as he remains indoors. What follows is a hilarious and action-packed cat-and-mouse game as Jassi tries to survive while falling in love with the beautiful Sukh (Sonakshi Sinha), Balwinder’s sister.

Why It Worked Despite the Criticism
While critics gave Son of Sardaar average to poor reviews, the film struck a chord with its target audience. Released alongside Yash Chopra’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan, it still managed to hold its own at the box office. Its masala-style execution, comic sequences, and festive release timing helped it become a commercial hit.
Son of Sardaar Part 2 – What We Know So Far
Sequel Plans: SOS 2 – Battle of Saragarhi
Ajay Devgn officially announced a sequel titled “Son of Sardaar 2”, but it is not a direct continuation of the original story. Instead, it’s a historical war drama centered on the Battle of Saragarhi — one of the most legendary last stands in Indian military history.
Son of Sardaar 2 Info:
-
Working Title: Son of Sardaar 2 / Battle of Saragarhi
-
Star Cast (expected): Ajay Devgn (lead), other cast members not confirmed
-
Genre: War, Drama, Historical

Status: Announced but currently delayed or shelved (as of 2025)
Ajay Devgn had expressed interest in producing a big-budget, intense war film based on the real-life bravery of 21 Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army who fought against 10,000 Afghan invaders in 1897.
However, due to multiple production issues and the release of Akshay Kumar’s Kesari (2019), which portrayed the same story, Son of Sardaar 2 has remained in development hell.
Is SOS 2 Still Happening?
As of now, there’s no official confirmation on whether Son of Sardaar 2 is still in production or has been shelved permanently. Ajay Devgn has remained tight-lipped about its future, but fans are still hopeful.
